Introducing Andy Montroll

Andy Montroll’s deep understanding of our City comes not just from his many years of public service, but from his experience as a neighbor, family man and small business owner. As an involved father of two young children who attend our local schools, an attorney with a practice downtown, and a dedicated City Councilor, Andy knows the many joys and challenges of living and working in our city.

Andy has provided strong, steady and innovative leadership during his 15 years on the City Council. His critical thinking skills and dedication to Burlington have earned him the respect of his colleagues who elected him four times as President of the Council. He is an engaged leader, with a wealth of knowledge about our multi-faceted City. He has chaired numerous Council committees, serves on the finance board, is the President of the Board of Trustees of Channel 17 and serves on the Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Improving all aspects of the quality of life in Burlington is Andy’s imperative. Our neighborhoods and their safety are something he takes personally, along with his strong support of the business community. Andy knows what is important to Burlington residents and works proactively in their interests.

As Mayor, Andy will apply his depth of knowledge and extensive experience to move Burlington forward. His years of service to our City, professional background as an engineer and attorney together with his personal experience raising a family in our neighborhoods make him an ideal leader of our City.

Andy graduated summa cum laude from Vermont Law School and holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Rochester. He lives on South Union Street with his wife, Barbara Anne, and their two children, Sarah and Elliott.
